THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI JYOTIRADITYA M. SCINDIA)

(a) Sir, there are no active proposals to bring IPO for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) at present.

(b) to (d) Do not arise in view of (a) above.

(e) & (f) The joint forum of BSNL Union/Associations of Non-Executives and Executives employees in their notice dated 24.01.2008 for indefinite strike from 26.02.2008 had demanded that IPO/Disinvestments proposal in BSNL may be dropped. The proposed strike has been deferred by the joint forum on the basis of assurance given by the office of Hon’ble MOC&IT that matter would be discussed internally in the Ministry and then a suitable decision would be taken in this regard.
