Question : ANCIENT TEMPLES OF NATIONAL IMPORTANCE



(a) the total number of ancient temples under the category of Natina monuments in the country and the locations thereof, State-Wise:

(b) the number out them declared as Centrally protected monuments:

(c) the number of National monuments and temples given to State Government for maintenance.

(d) The amount spent on the proper preservation of these temples during the last three years ( Tempoe -wise); and

(e) the steps taken for the proper maintenance and renovation of these temples and monuments?

(a)&(b) Religious edifices from part of many non-religious centrally protected monument complexes, as such it is not possible to provide specific information about a particular category of monuments.

(c) Monuments declared as centrally protected are maintained and preserved by the ASI).

(d) Religious places like temples, mosque etc form a part of a protected monuments, complexes as such it is not possible to segregated the expenditure incurred on their maintenance & preservation. Expenditure incurred on maintenance & conservation of centrally protected monuments during the last three years is as under:- 1996-97 Rs.1740.17 lakhs 1997-98 Rs. 2339.30 lakhs 1998-99 Rs. 2437.34 lakhs

(e) In addition to regular maintenance & upkeep of the monuments
