Question : CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD ALONG MC MOHAN LINE



(a) whether the Government’s plan to construct a 1800 km long road along the Mc Mohan line in Arunachal Pradesh has been strongly opposed by China;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government in this regard;

(c) whether the Government proposes to hold discussions with China for the resolution of the issue; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) Ministry of Home Affairs is considering the examination of a concept/plan for construction of a lateral road from Tawang to Vijaynagar in Changlang District in the State of Arunachal Pradesh to provide livelihood/connectivity to the border population and for the development of the border area. Government is giving careful and specific attention to the development of infrastructure in all the border areas in order to meet our strategic and security requirements as also to facilitate the economic development of these areas. The fact that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India has been clearly conveyed to the Chinese side on several occasions, including at the highest level.
