Question : Reply to MPs Letters

(a) whether the letters of Members of Parliament are acknowledged and replied by the Prime Minister''s Office (PMO) as per the rules of para 63 and 66 of Central Secretariat office Manual;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor and the reaction of the Government thereto;
(d) whether PMO has requested for setting up mechanism in each Ministry/ Department to monitor the reply of letters written by MPs; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and the Ministries/Departments which have set up and also those which are yet to set up the said mechanism?

(a) to (e): The para 63 and 66 of the 13th Edition of Central Secretariat Manual of Office Procedure(CSMOP) brought out in September, 2010 dealt with letters received from Members of Parliament (MPs). Normally, letters of Members of Parliament received in the PMO are duly acknowledged in accordance with the prescribed procedure contained in para 37 of the latest edition of CSMOP(14th edition) brought out in May,2015 regarding correspondence received from MPs and forwarded to Ministries/Departments for necessary action.
