The National Agriculture Insurance Scheme (NAIS) was introduce in 1999-2000.
Information relating to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) farmers is not maintained
separately by the Implementing Agency (IA). The total number of farmers which includes
SC/ST farmers who benefited under the NAIS in Himachal Pradesh in 2001-2002 and 2002-
2003 (Kharif) is 56048. This data is not available for Uttranchal as the implementation of the
scheme has started only in 2002-2003.
