Question : SKILL DEVELOPMENT



(a) whether the Government has any proposal to launch Labour Skill Development Programme across the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof, sector-wise including construction industry;

(c) whether lack of skilled workers impact productivity of projects;

(d) if so, the details thereof, Sector-wise; and

(e) the programmes run by the Government to make the labour employable in various sectors, Sector-wise?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP (SHRI RAJIV PRATAP RUDY)

(a) to (e) There are over 70 skill development schemes across various sectors being implemented by over 20 Central Ministries/ Departments to develop skilled manpower to meet the requirements of different sectors including construction sector. The achie- vements of Skill Development under these schemes are as below:-

 Further, National Skill Development Corporation has incubated 33 Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) which are industry led bodies intended to align the skilling efforts as per the industry’s requirement. The SSCs prescribe the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Qualification Packs (QPs) based on which the training is imparted.
