(SHRI KAUSHAL KISHORE)
(a): A Technology Sub-Mission (TSM) under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) Mission has been set up to facilitate adoption of modern, innovative and green technologies and building material for faster and quality construction of houses. Technology Sub-Mission also facilitates preparation and adoption of layout designs and building plans suitable for various geo-climatic zones and assists States/ Cities in deploying disaster resistant and environment friendly technologies.
Following activities have been undertaken under TSM:
i. Global Housing Technology Challenge – India (GHTC-India) was initiated to identify and mainstream globally best available proven construction technologies that are rapid, sustainable, green and disaster resilient.
ii. Under GHTC-India, 54 innovative proven construction technologies shortlisted from across the globe.
iii. Six Light House Projects (LHPs) using six distinct technologies shortlisted under GHTC-India are constructed at six places in the country.
iv. A free online Enrolment of TECHNOGRAHIS has been started for exposing the interested stakeholders to learn different phases of use of innovative technologies in LHPs for adoption and replication.
v. Under Affordable Sustainable Housing Accelerator (ASHA)-India, five Incubation Centres have been set up to provide Incubation Support to potential future technologies that are not yet market ready.
vi. An online course named NAVARITIH (New, Affordable, Validated, Research Innovation Technologies for Indian Housing) has been started to enhance the capability of building professionals about the new and emerging building materials, technologies and processes for construction.
vii. Indian Housing Technology Mela (IHTM) was organized to showcase the domestic indigenous and innovative technologies, building materials and construction processes for low & medium rise houses. 84 innovative technologies/ products/ materials were shortlisted under IHTM.
viii. More than 15 lakh houses are being constructed/completed using new technologies in various Central and State Schemes. State-wise details of houses which are constructed using new construction technologies is given at Annexure-I.
(b)& (c): The Ministry is constructing six LHPs consisting of about 1,000 houses each with physical and social infrastructure facilities at six places across the country using six distinct innovative technologies shortlisted from across the globe. The objective of LHPs is to showcase the use of these technologies in the building construction industry which are rapid, sustainable, disaster resilient, cost-effective as compared to conventional construction system. The construction of all six LHPs are currently in full swing. The project-wise details of total funds released for development of LHPs are at Annexure-II.
(d): Ministry is constructing Demonstration Housing Projects (DHPs) under PMAY(U) to showcase the field level application of new emerging technologies in housing sector. 7 such DHPs have been completed and handed over to the State Governments for propagation of use of new technologies to related stakeholders. In addition, 6 DHPs are currently being constructed using the innovative technologies in different States.
