Question : Pending Proposals from Bihar and Maharashtra

(a) the number of sports and youth affairs related proposals received from Bihar and Maharashtra during the last three years including cost/expenditure involved in each such proposal;

(b) the details of proposals out of them cleared so far including the sub-ject to which these are related;

(c) the details of proposals which are lying pending for approval at the Central level as on date;

(d) whether the pendency of proposals is likely to cause delay in achiev-ing the desired objectives of these proposals and increase their cost; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) to (c) Details of sports related projects received from the States of Bihar and Maharashtra under the Khelo India Scheme along with cost estimates and present status is given in Annexure - 1. No youth related proposals have been received from the State of Bihar and Maharashtra during the last three years.

(d) & (e) “Sports” being a State subject, the responsibility of develop-ment of Sports, including implementation of sports and youth related projects, rests with the State/Union Territory (UT) Governments. This Ministry supplements the efforts of State /UT Governments in this re-gard, by providing financial assistance through National Sports Federa-tions, training in Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centres and support un-der Khelo India Scheme. All the States/UTs are to be catered to within the budget allocated under the scheme for the particular financial year. Accordingly proposals received are examined under the parameters of the respective schemes and sanctioned subject to technical feasibility and availability of funds.
