(a) to (e): A Statement is laid on the Table of the House.
STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. 302 TO BE ANSWERED
IN THE LOK SABHA ON 16.04.2010 REGARDING RAJIV GANDHI GRAMEEN VIDYUTIKARAN YOJANA.
(a): A total number of 1,18,499 un-electrified villages consisting of 68,763 villages under X Plan and 49,736
villages under XI Plan have been identified for electrification under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana
(RGGVY). In addition, 3,54,967 electrified villages consisting of 1,11,936 electrified villages under X Plan
and 2,43,031 electrified villages under XI Plan have also been identified for intensive electrification. The
State-wise details are given at Annex-I.
(b): Under RGGVY, electricity infrastructure in 78,256 un-electrified villages have been provided as on
31.03.2010. The intensive electrification works in 1,12,602 electrified villages have also been completed
in the country as on 31.03.2010. The State-wise details are given at Annex-II.
(c) to (e): The electricity infrastructure in the villages have been created in line with the provision made
in the sanctioned Detailed Project Reports (DPRs). Representations/suggestions have been received in this
Ministry from various quarters which are taken as feedback for improvement/effective implementation of the
scheme. As regards the complaints relating to implementation of rural electrification works, the Ministry
or Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, the nodal agency for RGGVY takes up the matter with the
concerned implementing agencies and resolves the issues promptly. Further, for proper monitoring and
ensuring quality of works, a three tier Quality Control mechanism has been put in place in respect of
projects approved during XI Plan Period.
