Question : MSME Run by Men and Women

(a) whether the Government has recorded data on the percentage of MSMEs run by men and women individually;

(b) if so, the details thereof during the last five years and the current year and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Government has investigated the reason for the gender disparity in the proprietary concerns of MSMEs;

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and

(e) the number of loan applications filed by men and women under various schemes and the corresponding number of applications so rejected during the last five years and the current year?

(a) & (b): Yes Sir. The percentage of MSMEs run by men and women and registered on Udyog Aadhar Memorandum Portal is as under:

(c) & (d): Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has not investigated the reason for gender disparity in MSME registration. But, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises aims to promote women entrepreneurs through the following initiatives. (i) Under Public Procurement Policy, out of 25% procurement by Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) mandated from Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), 3% is reserved for women entrepreneurs. (ii) Under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), women entrepreneurs are eligible to get subsidy at the higher slab. PMEGP provides margin money subsidy of 35% of the project cost in rural areas and 25% in urban areas to women whereas general category entrepreneurs can avail margin money subsidy of 25% of the project cost in rural areas and 15% in urban areas.
