(a) whether the Union Government has set up any Committee to study the Economic Backwardness
of Weavers Community living in rural and semi urban areas and depending upon traditional
occupation/artisanship particularly in Bagalkot District of Karnataka;
(b) if so, whether the said Committee has submitted its report; and
(c) if so, the findings thereof alongwith the follow up action taken by the Union Government
thereon?

(a) to (c): Office of the Development Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles has not set up
any such Committee to study the economic backwardness of weavers community living in rural
and semi-urban areas. However, a diagnostic study of Mahalingapur handloom cluster in Bagalkot
district of Karnataka was conducted which has been sent to the state government of Karnataka.
