Question : AMOUNT RELEASED TO MAHARASHTRA UNDER PMRY



(a) the amount released under the Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Yojana in the country particularly for Maharashtra and Gujarat during 2000-2001;

(b) the proposed amount to be released during 2001-2002 under the said scheme;

(c) the details of those youths who have been benefited under these grants; and

(d) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to promote this scheme by enhancing the funds?

a) Under the Prime Minister`s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY), the Central Govt. releases funds for subsidy as well as for training and Entrepreneurial Development etc. while the funds for subsidy are authorized to the Reserve Bank of India for passing on to the individual beneficiaries through the implementing banks, the funds for training and Entrepreneurial Development etc, are released directly to the State/UTs. During the year 2000-01, Rs.183.00 crore has been authorized to the Reserve Bank of India for disbursement of subsidy to the implementing banks. During the same period, out of a total of Rs.18.00 crores for training and Entrepreneurial Development etc. Rs.47.00 lakhs and Rs.173.83 lakhs have been released to the Govts. Of Gujarat and Maharashtra respectively.

b): During the year 2001-02, under the Scheme, Rs.193.50 crores is proposed to be released.

c): As per the reports received from the Reserve Bank of India, loans have been sanctioned to 2,50,611 educated unemployed youth for the years 2000-01 and 2001-02 (upto August 2001) under the PMRY.

d): There is, presently, no proposal to enhance the funds under the Scheme.
