(a) whether the Government of Uttaranchal has sent a proposal to the Union Government for changing the name of the State from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand;
(b) if so, the time by which the decision will be taken thereon;
(c) if not, whether the Government proposes to change the name of the State itself; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): Yes, Sir. The Government of Uttaranchal had sent a proposal to the Union Government for changing the name of the State from Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand. The Union Government, at present, is not proposing to change the name of the State of Uttaranchal to Uttarakhand.
