*********
(a) : The peak power demand in the country during the financial year 2020-21 had not declined, but rather increased by 3.5% as compared to the previous financial year i.e. 2019-20. By the end of the financial year 2020-21, in January 2021, the peak demand in the country had not only recovered but with a peak demand of 190,198 MW, surpassed the previous year’s peak demand of 183,804 MW which, occurred during the year 2019-20, in the month of June, 2019.
(b) : The comparative details of Peak Demand and Peak Met in the country during the last five years (i.e. 2016-17 to 2020-21) and the current year i.e. 2021-22 (upto June, 2021) are given at Annexure-I. The State/UT-wise comparative details of Power Supply Position (both in terms of Energy and Peak) for the last five years i.e., 2016-17 to 2020-21 and the current year 2021-22 (upto June, 2021) are given at Annexure-II.
(c) : The month-wise details of power supply position in terms of Peak in the country during the year 2020-21 as compared to respective month of previous year 2019-20 are given at Annexure–III.
The lockdown in the country had led to a decline in the Peak Demand, with the highest impact of 24.9% decline in the month of April, 2020 as compared to corresponding figure of April, 2019. The details of thermal generation during 2020-21 are given at Annexure–IV.
(d) : The details of State/UTs-wise Power Supply Position (both in terms of Energy and Peak) during the last five years i.e., 2016-17 to 2020-21 and the current year 2021-22 (upto June, 2021) are given at Annexure-V.
