(a) whether the Government proposes to engage local communities to preserve and conserve marine resources and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Union Government has allotted any budget for conservation of marine life; and
(c) if so, the details thereof?

(a) Coastal Communities like Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs), Eco-Development Committee (EDC), Van Sanrakshan Samitis etc., are an integral part of preservation and conservation of the marine resources in the country.
(b) and (c) The total funds released to the State Governments during the financial year 2020-21 for conservation of marine life under the various schemes are Rs. 790.43 Lakh. The details are at Annexure.
