Question : Medical Practicing in Rural Areas

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) the number of doctors who have not practiced in rural areas after getting MBBS, PG degrees and diplomas from major Government medical colleges in the country, State/UT-wise and district-wise particularly in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan; and

(b) whether any action has been taken/being taken by the Government against such doctors, if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise particularly in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan?

(a) & (b): No such information is maintained centrally. Public health and hospitals being a State subject, the primary responsibility to ensure availability of human healthcare professionals in public health facilities lies with the State/ UT Governments.
