(a) the district-wise number of public sector banks functioning in Uttar Pradesh;
(b) whether there is a decrease in providing loans to agricultural and industrial
sector and other areas of priority by most of these banks; and
(c) if so, the reasons therefor?

(a) District-wise number of branches of public sector banks functioning in Uttar Pradesh
is given in the enclosed Statement.
(b) and (c) Disbursement of loan under Annual Credit Plans for the various categories
of agriculture, SSI and other priority sector by all scheduled commercial banks in Uttar
Pradesh have increased during the years 1996-97, 1997-98 and 1998-99 as given below:
