Question : PENDING CASES OF LABOUR DISPUTES



(a) the reasons for delay in setting up additional CGIT to dispose off industrial disputes as recommended by the Standing Committee on Labour and Welfare;

(b) whether out of 17 CGITs-cum-Labour Courts in the country, only 6 CGITs have so far been computerised;

(c) if so, the remedial steps being taken in this regard;

(d) procedure followed by the Ministry and its department and subordinate offices, Labour Courts etc. in purchase of computers and photocopiers;

(e) whether norms have been bypassed in this regard; and

(f) if so, the details thereof and reasons therefore?

(a): The Government has approved the setting up of 5 new Central Government Industrial Tribunal-cum-Labour Courts to be located one each at Ahmedabad, Ernakulam, Guwahati and additional ones in Delhi and Chandigarh after following the prescribed procedures and as such there has been no delay in receiving the approval.


(b) & (c): Thirteen Central Government Industrial Tribunal-cum-Labour Courts have already been computerized. Action to computerize the remaining four are at an advanced stage.


(d) to (f): The information relating to the entire Ministry, its departments and subordinate offices etc. is being collected and will be laid on the Table of the House.
