(a): National Horticulture Mission (NHM) is being implemented in 19 States and four UTs. List of States and UTs covered under NHM is at Annexure – I. Details of achievements under NHM are at Annexure – II.
(b): Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), a Centrally Sponsored Scheme is being implemented during XII Plan w.e.f. 2014-15, for holistic growth of the horticulture sector covering fruits, vegetables, root and tuber crops, mushrooms, spices, flowers, aromatic plants, coconut, cashew, cocoa and bamboo. Mission subsumes National Horticulture Mission (NHM), Horticulture Mission for North East & Himalayan States (HMNEH), National Bamboo Mission (NBM), National Horticulture Board (NHB), Coconut Development Board (CDB) and Central Institute for Horticulture (CIH), Nagaland. All States and UTs are covered under MIDH. Assistance for increasing horticulture production is also being provided under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY).

(c) & (d): States of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh has requested for inclusion of more districts under NHM. The National Horticulture Mission (NHM) envisages a cluster based approach for the development of horticultural crops, in accordance with their comparative advantage based on agro climatic conditions, potential for development and marketing opportunities. Inclusion of more districts under NHM would lead to diffusion of scarce resources. Accordingly, States have been advised to utilize funds from Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) for horticulture development in Non-NHM districts.
(e): A statement indicating state wise and year wise funds allocated under NHM for the last three years and current year is given at Annexure - III.
Under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture, assistance is provided as credit linked back ended subsidy for setting up whole sale markets, rural markets/apni mandis and retail markets. In case of terminal markets, assistance is provided @ 25% to 40% (limited to Rs.50.00 Crore) under PPP mode, through competitive bidding as per operational guidelines. Assistance is also provided for setting up static/mobile vending carts/ platforms with cool chamber and functional infrastructure for collection, sorting/grading, packing etc.
For creation of market infrastructure, assistance is available to individuals, group of farmers/growers/consumers, Partnership/Proprietary firms, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs), Companies, Corporations, Cooperatives, Cooperative Marketing Federations, Local Bodies, APMCs & Marketing Boards and State Governments.
