Question : Open Defecation

(a) the number of households in Bihar where toilets have been constructed as on date since January 1, 2016;

(b) the total number of community and public toilets constructed in the State during the said period; and

(c) the number of urban and rural areas which have been declared as Open Defecation Free in the State?

(a) and (b) Under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), 1,19,66,216 individual household latrines and 34 Community Sanitary Complexes have been constructed in Bihar since 1st January, 2016, as per the data reported by the State on the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) maintained by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation. And, under Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), a total number of 3,87,178 individual household latrines and 16,293 Community Toilets and Public Toilets have been constructed in the State during this period.

(c) All the 38,691 villages and the urban areas of all the 142 cities in Bihar have declared themselves Open Defecation Free.
