(a) the details and status of construction of several major, small and medium, land and water ports/undertaken under Sagarmala project, State-wise;
(b) whether special emphasis has been laid to make Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra a launching pad for this project; and
(c) if so, the details thereof?
(a) Sagarmala Scheme intends to achieve the broad objectives of enhancing the capacity of major and non-major ports and modernizing them to make them efficient, thereby enabling them to become drivers of port led economic development. Under Sagarmala Programme, Ministry has provided financial assistance to State Government for port infrastructure projects, coastal berth projects, road & rail projects, fisheries harbours, skill development projects, coastal community development, international cruise terminal and unique and innovative projects such as Ro-Pax ferry services etc.
There are 70 projects worth Rs. 3514.29 Cr sanctioned for funding under the Sagarmala Scheme for the purpose of creation of infrastructure facilities at port for modernization, coastal cargo handling and RORO & passenger jetties.
