(a)&(b): The available State-wise details of production of fruits and vegetables during the last
three years is given in the Statement at Annexure -I.
(c): The Government is implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Macro Management
in Agriculture – Supplementation/Complementation of State Efforts through Work Plans, under
which the State Governments can take up developmental activities for horticultural crops
including fruits and vegetables as per the felt needs and requirements. Apart from this, the
National Horticulture Board is also implementing a scheme for Development of Commercial
Horticulture through Production and Post Harvest Management, under which back-ended capital
investment subsidy @ not exceeding 20% of the total project cost limited to Rs. 25 lakhs is
provided .
(d): These schemes are being continued during the Tenth Plan period.
(e)&(f): The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority
(APEDA) under the Ministry of Commerce is providing financial assistance to
individuals/exporters for various activities like setting up Infrastructure Facilities, Packaging
Development, Human Resource Development, Export Promotion, Market Development and
Quality Control for promoting export of horticultural products including fruits and vegetables.
Besides, APEDA with the involvement of the State Governments have initiated several
programmes under Agri Export Zones (AEZ) for giving focused attention on area based
programme for export promotion of horticultural products including fruits and vegetables.
(g)&(h): The quantum of fruits and vegetables exported and the foreign exchange earned during
the last three years is given below:
