Question : Super-efficient Air Conditioners in Government Buildings

(a) whether the Government has decided to install super-efficient air-conditioners in 2,500 of its buildings for the first time in the country adhering to its commitment made in the Paris Agreement on Climate Change; and
(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b) Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance has requested mandatory installation of LED based lighting and energy efficient equipment (fans and air conditioners) in all government buildings, in order to achieve economy in expenditure and savings. Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under of Ministry of Power, Government of India has installed 9864 super efficient air conditioners in around 8000 buildings. The project is implemented by the Central Public Works Department and EESL.
