(a) whether the Government has assessed the impact of discontinuing some services including the telegraph by the postal department;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the closing of such services has a bearing on the employment of some persons; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) Yes, Madam. This Department does not discontinue any service without examining its viability and impact on general public.
(b) The details of discontinued services is as below:
(i) Telegraph Service was discontinued w.e.f. 15.07.2013 by DoT.
(ii) The Telegraph Money Order Service was discontinued w.e.f. 28.05.2014.
(iii) Under Certificate of Posting’ was discontinued w.e.f. 31.01.2011.
(c) No, Madam.
(d) In view of (c) above, question does not arise.
