(a) the amount paid as legal fees to private legal companies by Air India during the last two years;
(b) whether the Air India has a legal department of its own;
(c) if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the manner in which the Government propose to reduce expenditure on this account?

(a): Air India has paid Rs.22,89,80,854.42 as legal fees to
Private Legal Companies during the last two financial years.
(b): No, Sir.
(c): Does not arise.
(d): In order to reduce the expenses by way of legal fees,
Air India has empanelled law firms who have quoted
reasonable legal fees. Wherever possible, out of court
settlements are also being effected to reduce legal costs.
