Question : e-Commerce Platform for Real Estate Sector

a) whether the Government has launched e-commerce platform for real estate sector and if so, the details thereof and the aims and objective behind the move;

(b) whether the Government has consulted Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India and National Real Estate Development Council in this regard and if so, the details and outcome thereof;

(c) whether the Government has organized 1st National RERA Conclave recently and if so, the details thereof and the issues discussed and the outcome thereof;

(d) whether almost two years after the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, was enacted, 15 States still do not have a separate website for a Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) that each State was mandated to set up; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor alongwith steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a)&(b): No Sir. Government has not launched any e-commerce platform for real estate sector. However, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has encouraged the real estate developers’ associations- Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) and National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) to develop the website/portal for online sale of houses/flats in fair and transparent manner and to enable the homebuyers to take informed decisions.

(c): Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs did not organize the 1stNational RERA Conclave. Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority organised conclave of the Real Estate Regulatory Authorities and other stakeholders from across the country to discuss various key aspects in real estate sector for ensuring growth and stability and to develop a roadmap for accelerated development of the sector in November 2019.

(d)&(e): Presently, 26 States/UTs have operationalized their website under the provisions of Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA). The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is continuously following up with all concerned States/UTs to implement RERA in letter and spirit.
