(a)the details of MNCs or foreign companies having
manufacturing units of chemicals in the country;
(b)the number of foreign companies are manufacturing
chemicals in the country with their Indian partners;
(c) whether the Government has ensured that these companies
are not manufacturing any internationally banned chemicals;
and
(d)if so, the details thereof ?

(a) and (b): There are foreign/multinational companies such as BASF India Limited,
Bayer Cropscience India Limited, E.I. Du Pont India Limited, M/s Aventis Pharm Limited,
Glaxo Smithkiine Pharmaceuticals Limited, M/s Astra-Zeneca Limited, etc. who have established
manufacturing units in the country. Some units such as Colour Chem Limited, Ctariant (India) Limited,
Schenectady Herdillia Limited, etc. are manufacturing chemicals in the country as Joint Ventures.
( c) and (d): Prevention of manufacture of banned chemicals in the
country is ensured through various Acts of Parliament such as The Environment (Protection) Act, 1986`,
The Insecticides Act, 1968`, `The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act 1986` and The Drugs
and Cosmetics Act, 1940` etc.
