(a) the number of rail bridges built by the Britishers, which have completed their life;

(b) the list of `distressed` rail bridges in the country; and

(c) the steps taken to replace these `distressed` railway bridges?

a) Rebuilding of bridges on consideration of end of life is not decided merely on basis of age but on age cum physical condition basis and technical considerations.

(b) As on 01.04.2001, there are 515 `distressed` bridges in the country. Railway-wise list is as under:-

c) Identified distressed bridges are prioritised on considerations of their condition assessed on the basis of physical condition through inspections and rebuilt/rehabilitated.
