(a) the composition of National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) and the details of year-wise grants received by it from Union Government since its inception;

(b) the details of the other sources through which it has raised funds during the said period;

(c) whether contribution to NSDF is exempted from payment of income-tax;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the details of sportspersons to whom funds have been sanctioned from this Fund till date alongwith the names of the sportspersons who have been sanctioned funds in advance for training-cum-competition programmes prior to Athens Olympics, 2004?

(a) & (b): A Council, chaired by the Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, manages and administers the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF). Secretary (YA&S); Director General (DG); Sports Authority of India (SAI); Joint Secretary (Sports); Financial Adviser (FA) are the other ex- officio members of the Council. Eight eminent sportspersons and upto nine eminent persons representing the corporate sector, private foundations and not-for-profit voluntary organizations etc. are the other members of the Council. An officer not below the rank of Deputy Secretary of this Ministry is the Member Secretary of the Council. In addition, there is an Executive Committee under the Presidentship of Secretary (YA&S). DG, SAI; JS (Sports); FA; Deputy Secretary/Director (Member Secretary) and 5 nominated members of the Council are the other members of the Executive Committee.

The details of grants received by the Fund since its inception from Government by way of seed money, matching contributions and contributions received from other sources is given in Annexure-I.

(c) & (d): Contribution to the NSDF has the facility of 100% exemption from payment of income tax.

(e): The details of sportspersons assisted from NSDF till date alongwith details of sportspersons given advance for training-cum-competition programmes prior to Athens Olympics is given in Annexure-II.
