Question : TECHNOLOGY UPGRADATION FUND SCHEME



(a) whether the Government has launched Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) to bring technical reforms in the textile sector and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the quantum of funds allocated, released and utilized since the inception of the scheme, State/UT-wise;

(c) the funds earmarked for the scheme in 12th Five Year Plan;

(d) whether the funds earmarked for the 12th Five Year Plan are yet to be approved by the Planning Commission, if so, the details thereof and the action taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard; and

(e) whether the Government has reviewed the progress made under the said Scheme, if so, the details and the outcome thereof indicating the time when the last review was made?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF TEXTILES (SHRI SANTOSH KUMAR GANGWAR)

(a): Yes, Madam. Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme is in operation since 1999. The details of the Scheme are at Annexure-I.

(b): The funds under the Scheme are not allocated and released state/UT-wise. Year-wise allocation and release/utilization of funds is at Annexure-II.

(c): The total allocation under TUFS for the 12th Plan period is Rs. 11952.80 crore.

(d):Planning Commission has approved the allocation for the 12th Five Year Plan.

(e): The Scheme was last reviewed by Expenditure Finance Committee chaired by Secretary (Expenditure) in its meeting dated 19th March 2013 and it was recommended to continue the scheme in the 12th Five Year Plan.
