Question : Change in Nuclear Policy

(a) whether the Government of India has any plan to change the basic principle of India’s Nuclear Doctrine, i.e. No First use according to which, nuclear weapons will only be used in retaliation against a nuclear attack on Indian Territory or on Indian forces anywhere; and

(b) if so, the details thereof including the present stand on the aforesaid policy:

(a) & (b) There has been no change in India’s nuclear doctrine. India is committed to maintaining credible minimum deterrence and the policy of no-first use of nuclear weapons.
