Question : Construction of Highways in Rajasthan

(a) whether bypasses sanctioned by the Union Government on various National Highways and State Highways in Rajasthan are not getting completed due to want of either financial approval or due to financial crunch;

(b) if so, the details thereof by indicating the commencement date, completion date and the date on which these works were stopped;

(c) whether the Union Government proposes to restart the work on the incomplete National Highways stopped for lack of funding and if so, the details thereof;

(d) the details and the length of highways in kilometer targeted to be constructed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Rajasthan during the last three years; and

(e) the quantum of funds allocated for this purpose and the expenditure incurred thereon so far along with the time by which the said target is likely to be achieved?

(a)&(b) The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is primarily responsible for development and maintenance of National Highways. There are no such National Highways projects which are incomplete either due to financial approval or financial crunch on part of Government of India.

(c) No Sir, does not arise.

(d)&(e) The details of length of Highway targeted for construction and actual constructed length by National Highways Authority of India for past 3 years is as below:

As such, the length targeted for construction in the state of Rajasthan for past 3 years was 1,508 km; however, the actual constructed length is 1,870 km. Expenditure for an amount of about Rs. 6,042 crore has been incurred for this construction by National Highways Authority of India.
