(a) whether the Government proposes to conduct audit for South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), the Public Sector Undertakings working in South Eastern region for coal mining; and
(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): As per section 143 of the Companies Act, 2013 the Comptroller and Auditor General of India appoints Statutory Auditors for the Government companies and has a right to conduct a supplementary audit of such companies.
The office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India carries out the necessary audit of SECL and MCL, which are subsidiaries of Coal India Limited and are also Government companies within the meaning of section-2 (45) of the Companies Act, 2013.
