(a) & (b): The Ministry of Education vide letter dated 18-11-2019 requested all IITs to comply with the provisions of Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Act, 2019. In order to suggest measures for effective implementation of this Act, a Committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Director, IIT, Delhi. The Committee submitted its report, which was circulated to all concerned Ministries and their comments have been received. The report is referred to Standing Committee of IIT Council for its recommendations. No decision has been taken on the recommendations of the Committee yet.
(c) & d): No Sir
(e) : To safeguard and improve the status of reservation to all categories, including OBCs, the Government has enacted Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in ‘Teaching Cadre’) Act, 2019. The faculty recruitments in IITs are made through rolling advertisement, which is open to all eligible candidates throughout the year. The recruitment to non-teaching cadre is regulated by the guidelines of Department of Personnel & Training. IITs were advised to follow the Government guidelines issued from time to time in the matter of reservation in admission of students and recruitment of staff. IITs have been carrying out special recruitment drive for filling up of vacancies belonging to OBCs category, both in teaching and non-teaching cadre.
In Central Universities, after implementation of “The Centre Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Act, 2019”, the OBC reservation has been implemented at all levels.
