Question : CLEARANCE TO LAVASA PROJECT .

(a) whether the Government has received any report from the Expert Appraisal Committee constituted by the Government in regard to Lavasa township;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government proposes to consider to demolish certain parts of Lavasa township keeping in view the likely damage to the environment;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government has put any condition on construction of Lavasa township; and

(f) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR ENVIRONMENT AND FORESTS (SHRIMATI JAYANTHI NATARAJAN)

(a) & (b) M/s Lavasa Corporation Limited has submitted a proposal for environmental clearance for 2000 hectares, 1st phase. The proposal was appraised in various meetings of Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) constituted under the Environment Impact Assessment Notification, 2006. The EAC has recommended the proposal with various conditions. The Environmental Clearance is not issued, as on date.

(c) & (d) There is no proposal for demolition of certain parts of Lavasa township.

(e) & (f) Ministry has informed M/s Lavasa Corporation Limited regarding the requirement of the five pre-conditions before the issue of Environmental Clearance.
