Question : ECONOMIC PACKAGE FOR BIHAR



(a) whether the Government of Bihar has demanded an economic package of Rs.40,000 crores from the Union Government after the creation of Jharkhand;

(b) if so, the value of the economic package sanctioned by the Union Government so far alongwith the details thereof; and

(c) the details of the amount provided to Bihar so far under this package?

(a): After bifurcation of the State, the Government of Bihar had submitted from time to time 116 projects worth Rs.40,143 crore to the Union Government for approval.

(b): After holding wide-ranging consultations with the representatives of the State Government and the people`s representatives of the State of Bihar, seven projects worth Rs.2531.35 crore have been identified for implementation under the Special Bihar Plan component of Rashtriya Sam Vikas Yojana with 100% grant assistance. The details are at Annex.A.

(c): Based on the progress of implementation of these projects, Rs.621.1219 crore has been released so far.
