MINISTER OF THE STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI NAMO NARAIN MEENA)
(a): The 2009 Global Hunger Index(GHI) report places India at 65th position among 84 countries.
(b) & (c): The index value of 23.9 in 2009 is an improvement on the index value of 31.7 in 1990
due to schemes like Integrated Child Development Services(ICDS), Mid-Day Meal Scheme besides
anti-poverty schemes and the recent National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
