Question : Sustainable Development Goals

(a) whether the United Nations has adopted a programme of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that India has also undertaken to implement;

(b) if so, the details of such goals;

(c) whether means, programmes and timelines for India to achieve these goals have been developed and if so, the details thereof, SDG-wise;

(d) if not, the reasons therefor and the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to ensure and achieve the SDGs;

(e) whether the Government has noticed the discrepancies and mismatch of the figures and data in reports/studies of MDGs/SDGs when it is compared with studies/reports of the international agencies and think tanks; and

(f) if so, the reasons therefor and the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) Yes Sir. The United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution titled ‘Transforming our World- the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’ with 17 global goals at its core- called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). India is a member of the UN General Assembly.

(b) The list of 17 Sustainable Development Goals is given at Annexure-I.

(c) and (d) Various programmes of Central Government and State Governments cover the Goals and Targets of SDGs.

(e) No Sir. The Government recognizes only data produced through official statistics system in the country.

(f) Does not arise.
