(a) whether Alternate Method of Healing known as `Sudarshan Kriya` has been endorsed by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and our National Insltitute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS);
(b) whether the Government have taken any steps to introduce or utilise this Technique of Healing;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(e) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) : The alternate method of healing known as `Sudarshan Kriya` has not been endorsed by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences, Bangalore.
(b)to(e): Sudarshan Kriya was tried as a treatment method in a preliminary study of 30 patients suffering from depression at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences, Bangalore. While the results suggest some beneficial effects, this study needs to be expanded to include a larger number of patients and compared with the existing method of treatment with antidepressant drugs like Imipramine and Fluoxetine.
