Question : Performance of Teachers

(a) whether a Three Member Committee has recommended to review the performance of teachers in IITs after every five years;
(b) if so, the details of the recommendation and the arrangement suggested by the Committee;
(c) the details of parameters under which review of teachers is proposed to be made; and
(d) the extent to which this will help to improve quality teaching in IITs and address shortage of teachers, in view of the proposed review of their performance?

(a) to (d): An agenda regarding “Tenure track system in all IITs” came up for discussion in the 53rd IIT Council Meeting held on 27.09.2019 at IIT Delhi. However, no decision has been taken by the Government in this regard.
