Question : COMMON ENTRANCE TEST FOR ENGINEERING COURSES

(a) whether the Government have decided recently to hold common entrance test for admission in all the undergraduate engineering courses;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the scheme is likely to be implemented in all the engineering institutions/colleges;

(d) if so, the details in this regard; and

(e) the time by which it is likely to be commenced?

(a) to (e): Possibility of holding a common entrance test for admission in all undergraduate engineering courses has been considered by the Government. It has been decided to make a beginning in this regard by extending the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted for the IIT system to include other institutions having certain standards from the session starting from 2002.
