(a) whether there is any proposal to make certain changes in
the examinations system followed by the Union Public Service
Commission;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government propose to introduce Hindi as a
medium of examination in place of English; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b): Review of the system of UPSC`s examinations is an
ongoing process. The Commission reviews the system of
examinations from time to time in consultation with the concerned
Ministries/Departments keeping in view the requirements of
services/posts filled through these examinations.
(c) and(d): The question of introduction of Hindi and other
languages included in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, was
considered by Dr. Satish Chandra Committee appointed by the
UPSC. Efforts are on to arrive at a consensus on this sensitive
issue, based on the recommendations of the Committee.
