Question : Strengthening of Rainwater Harvesting Schemes

(a) whether the Government has taken any concrete steps to strengthen the rain water harvesting schemes in the country and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has received any proposal from Madhya Pradesh to strengthen the existing and the newly constructed structures relating to rain water harvesting sources and for the implementation of the Government schemes; and
(c) if so, the details thereof alongwith the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) Steps taken by the Government to steps to strengthen rainwater harvesting in the Country are available at the following URL http://mowr.gov.in/writereaddata/GW_Depletion.pdf.

(b) & (c) Yes, Madam. One proposal of Sonkatch Block of Dewas District has been received from PHED, Government of Madhya Pradesh. The proposal includes construction of 5 Percolation Tanks, 15 Recharge Shafts, 55 Stop dams & 55 Peizometers amounting to Rs.6.75 crores. It has been included in the Proposal for Five Over-Exploited Blocks as Pilot Project in five States amounting to Rs. 61.0 crores.
