Question : DEVELOPMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE AT PORTS



(a) whether the Government have set up a steering group to monitor, study coastal routes, availability of cargo and development of infrastructure at ports;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the said steering group has submitted its report to the Government;

(d) if so, the findings thereof; and

(e) if not, the time by which the report is likely to be received from the steering group?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF SHIPPING (SHRI HUKUMDEO NARAYAN YADAV)

(a) & (b) Yes Sir. Government have decided to conduct a Study of the coastal routes, availability of cargo including return cargo, specific needs for development of infrastructure at ports, etc. also covering integration of coastal shipping and inland water transport, wherever feasible.

(c) No Sir.

(d) Does not arise.

(e) At this stage it is not possible to give specific time.
