Question : EASTERN PERIPHERAL EXPRESSWAY



(a) whether the Government has decided to fast track completion of Eastern Peripheral Expressway and if so, the details thereof along with the number of bids received in this regard;

(b) whether the Government proposes to incentivise the contractors who timely complete the work;

(c) if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to complete the project so as to decongest the roads?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 599 ANSWERED ON 07TH MAY, 2015 ASKED BY SHRI DHANANJAY MAHADIK AND SHRI MOHITE PATIL VIJAYSINGH SHANKARRAO REGARDING EASTERN PERIPHERAL EXPRESSWAY.

Yes Madam, for timely implementation of Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the entire project have been divided into six packages. At the pre-qualification stage total 167 applications have been received for all the above six packages. From the pre-qualified bidders, financial bid have been invited with the due date being 11.05.2015.

In the event that the Project Completion Date occurs prior to the Scheduled Completion Date, the Contractor shall be entitled to receive a payment of bonus equivalent to 0.03% (zero point zero three per cent) of the Contract Price for each day by which the Project Completion Date precedes the Scheduled Completion Date, but subject to a maximum of 3% (three per cent) of the Contract Price.

The Hon’ble Supreme Court is also monitoring the progress of the project. As per the target set by Hon’ble Supreme Court, the project is to be completed latest by June 2018.
