Question : Compensation to Developers

(a) whether it is true that the Government has turned down a proposal to pay cash compensation of nearly Rs. 1,000 crore to developers due to suspension of toll collection during the period of demonetization;

(b ) if so, the details thereof;

(c ) whether it is also true that the Government has agreed that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) can pay the compensation as per the provisions of the model concession agreement; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d) A proposal for compensating the concessionaire on account of the foregone collection of the user fee owing to the decision of government to suspend the toll during 09.11.2016 ( 17:30 hrs) to 02.12.2016 ( 24:00 hrs) was moved. However, it has been decided by the Government to deal the situation as per the existing provisions of the Concession Agreement.
