(e): In order to increase domestic production, the focus of the Government is on facilitating Environment & Forest clearances expeditiously, pursuing with State Government for assistance in land acquisition and coordinating efforts with Railways for movement of coal. Coal India Limited (CIL) envisages enhancing its coal production from the current level of 494 Mte. to 1000 Mte. by 2019-20 for which a detailed action plan has been drawn. This includes capacity addition from new projects, use of mass production technologies and identification of existing ongoing projects with growth potential. In order to bridge demand supply gap, the import of coal has been kept on Open General License (OGL). Consumers are free to import coal from the source of their choice as per their contractual prices on payment of applicable duty.
