(a) Yes, Sir.
(b) The posts of Director General, AIR and Director General, Doordarshn are lying
vacant since 11.06.99 and 01.09.91 respectively. However, during the period from
01.09.91 to 31.01.98 additional charge/current duty charge of the post of
DG:Doordarshan was held by various officers.
(c) & (d) : Consequent upon formation of Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of
India) in 1997, the appointments to these posts are to be made by the Prasar Bharati as
provided under Section 9 of the Prasar Bharati Act, 1990. In this regard the
Government have written to Prasar Bharati to fill up these posts. In response Prasar
Bharati has submitted the draft recruitment rules for these posts which is under
examination. As soon as the Recruitment rules are finalised, action to fill up of these
posts will be taken by Prasar Bharati.
