Question : Funds Released to North Eastern States

a) the details of funds sanctioned/released for various projects under the Ministry during the last three years and the current year;
b) whether the Government is implementing various projects and programmes through NGOs/Institutions;
c) if so, the details thereof and the criteria adopted by his Ministry for selection of such nodal NGOs;
d) whether the Government has formulated a policy to give priority to the NGOs from North Eastern States to be funded by his Ministry; and
e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reason therefor ?

(b) Yes, Sir. Various projects and programmes are implemented through NGO’s/Institutions under the Plan Scheme of Advocacy & Publicity and also by the North Eastern Council (NEC).
(c) to (e) In respect of the Plan Scheme of Advocacy & Publicity, project proposals are approved for funding as recommended by Screening Committee in accordance with the guidelines of the Scheme. Various proposals funded in the past are for Seminars, Workshops, Craft Bazars and Exhibitions, Investment Summits, Business Conclaves, Social Events, Festivals on Dance & Music and Cultural Exchange Programmes, Conference on Contemporary Developmental Issues of NER, Mega Events etc. And in respect of the North Eastern Council (NEC), projects are funded on the basis of their impact/importance for the overall development of the North Eastern States keeping in mind the regionality criteria.
