Question : Wrestling in Olympics

(a) whether the International Olympic Committee has proposed to keep wrestling out of the Olympics and if so, the details and the present status thereof;
(b) the criteria adopted for inclusion and exclusion of any sports/games from Olympics and the reaction of the Government thereto; and
(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government at international level to ensure inclusion of wrestling in the Olympics along with the outcome thereof?

(a) to (c): Madam, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has informed that there was a proposal in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to drop wrestling from the Olympics but the 125th Session of the IOC has decided to include wrestling for 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games.IOC Session (General House) decides on inclusion and exclusion of any sports/games from the Olympics and the Government has no role in it.
